POKOTABI / Kakomiya
囲み屋
On the 1 floor of Nogata Bunka Market, Kakomiya serves inventive bar snacks, including its signature pork-bone miso oden, oysters sourced from Toyosu and a sashimi platter smoked to order. Pair them with sake selected by the owner.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Kakomiya is an izakaya on the 1 floor of Nogata Bunka Market, whose Showa-era atmosphere remains in view. The menu’s signature is pork-bone miso oden: familiar ingredients such as daikon, beef tendon skewers, meatballs, mochi-filled pouches and chikuwa-bu simmer slowly in a rich pork-bone miso broth. Served in small portions on skewers, they are easy to order one at a time.
Seafood offers a lively counterpoint to the warm stew. The sashimi platter smoked to order releases fragrant smoke when its lid is lifted. There are also oysters delivered from Toyosu and oysters topped with salmon roe. Grilled options include crab miso baked in its shell and seared chicken liver, described on the menu as meltingly tender. The range makes it easy to build a meal from a few different plates.
To drink, there is seasonal sake and regional Japanese sake selected by the owner, alongside drinks such as a moringa tea highball, a corn tea highball and a varied selection of shochu. For a final savoury course, the stewed broth is put to good use in a closing bowl of stew over rice; salmon roe rice can also be made into ochazuke, rice with tea or broth poured over it.
In the evening, Kakomiya is open from 17:00 until 24:00 the following day, except on Thursdays. The counter suits a casual solo drink as well as a toast after work. PayPay, Rakuten Pay and major credit cards are accepted, making it convenient to drop in while out exploring.
